I am Mademoiselle FANTASY and this Fantastic Sunday I would like to inform you all of a very serious topic; the EU’s Article 13.

What is Article 13, you may ask?

Well, in short it’s a new law about to passed in the EU (European Union) about copyright and the right creators have to use, otherwise copyrighted material, without the creator’s permission in order to criticize, parody, judge, or use it for educational purposes. If you are from the U.S.A. you may recognise this as “Fair Use,” while if you are european as “Permitted Use.”

Article 13 was created to limit copyright violations and stop criminal acts. However, it lacks in one accord. The wording of the law is EXTREMELY vague. So much so, that is could (and if it does become legal will) cause creators from all over the world, in all of Internet’s platforms to lose their jobs.

Think about it. All of gaming channels on YouTube, documentaries and reviews on the Internet, movie and song parodies will be banned. Your favourite blogs and channels will be deleted. Content itself will become bland and boring. Even common logos will be banned from use.

I cannot stress how important it is for us to ensure our freedom to express opinions, criticize, educate and enjoy what we see on the Internet.

I strongly advise that you watch the following video, created by the YouTube channel The Film Theorists, and share it as much as you can! Link here.

We MUST help to stop this new law from limiting our freedom on the Internet!

Hugs, love and good vibes,

Mademoiselle FANTASY

P.S.: I am not French. The name was just one of those stupid ideas someone has, but likes them too much to let them go… 🙂
